Tell me about Workplace Experience placements
- Research shows that young people and adults are strongly influenced by work based experiences.
- Workplace Experience placements will allow people to sample their choices before committing to an apprenticeship, helping to reduce the drop-out rate.
- Workplace Experience placements will give people an accurate idea of what the job specifically involves – i.e. what time to get out of bed, working in all weathers etc.
- Raise the skill level of young people and adults, contribute to their current education and improve their future employability.
- Raise the profile of the construction industry in the local community as a caring employer, broadening the experience of current staff and encouraging people from different backgrounds and cultures.
- Staff can develop in supervisory, supportive and training roles. Sharpening up working practices, especially reinforcing health and safety practice with both new and current staff.
- Give existing staff a good understanding of the current education qualifications and the necessary requirements.
